bissett, bill – “As I Think of Where Today I Can Get th Rent Money”

As I Think of Where Today I Can Get th Rent Money

bill bissett

it becomes necessary
to speak in analogies.
There’s two wars on,
both run by th U.S.,
one in Vietnam, th other
in Dominican Republic.

So what does that mean,
does it help to speak
this clearly, that you become
only anti-American; there’s
trouble within th human
heart, where we move

toward each other, trusting,
there’s trouble, the beat is
abridged, blink, we shut
out concern, love only

what we can abuse of this fellow
human we meet, whose address
is known to everyone, his number
filed within 30 seconds’ reach, he is
our self with whom we don’t join hands.
